Re: Marv Mitchell's 1079 on www.pandpseed.com

Growers,

A few years ago one of the growers at the Clarence, NY weigh-off site came up
to me after the weighing was over and said "I'm going to grow a 1,000 lb
pumpkin".  Well this year he did!  But, the specimen didn't make it to the
weigh-off.  Marv Mitchell from Michigan was harvesting his monster in late
September; preparing to come to Clarence and noticed a soft spot!  Need I say
more.  Marv weighed that pumpkin at  1079lb. UOW.  The fruit was from Bill
Bobier's 723 (99) X Eaton 1009.5 (99) and had a close relationship to Joe
Pukos' 1096.8 that would win at Clarence. Marv's measurements were 364.75
inches.  I felt bad for Marv at the weigh-off on September 30th - and Bill
Bobier (1025 UOW) , and also Glenn Needham (1064.5 UOW).  But, can you
believe it?  When a man put his mind to the task and comes back in a couple
of years!

Marv has checked the germination and says he had excellent results.  We've
got a limited number of seeds to offer through P & P Seed Co.  You'll only
find them here.  Marv has only traded a few away and would like to test
market the rest with P & P Seed Co.  These will be offered ONLINE ONLY.

preparing for your contest date at Clarence, NY on September 29th, 2001.  We
hope to offer the same awards as last year - $25K 1st place.  This will be
announced ASAP.  Ray Waterman
