Josh, You should try to get ahold of a 41% solution of Roundup. Use about 1 oz per gallon in a back pace sprayer. It shouldn't take more than about 3-4 backpacks to treat this area. Just remember, the cooler it is the slower the Roundup works, so be patient in Spring. Roundup won't give you great results on the Ivy however, you might want to ad some Crossbow again at about a 1% dilution or some other broad leaf control agent. A few points to remember:
a) Roundup has no soil residual, once it touches the soil it is bound up, so you needn't be concerned about any residual problems. It is a contact, translocated material, so be sure to treat the weeds you are targeting only. Roundup efficacy is improved if you use a surfactant, again a pretty low rate (1-2 oz /backpack)
b) Crossbow or other 2,4-D materials should be applied no sooner that 2-3 weeks before planting. This product actually degrades quickly, but can have some minor residual in the soil that my effect young plants. Especially, tomatoes & grapes. It works great on woody and broadleaf weeds.
good luck,
Jim Sherwood
