Doug,
I too have been plagued by the borers over the years as well
as my neighbors from Barnesville, OH which have been known to grow pumpkins in
the 800-1109range.
1. Warrior-T if you have a pesticide license.
2. Scimitar
3. Bug-B-Gone by Ortho but has to contain Esfenvalerate
(active ingredient in Asana)
Bug-B-Gone with Esfenvalerate wiped them for me as I was
plagued by them in the past in WV. I'm about 45 min. from Barnesville, OH
wherelarge pumpkins are grown and a couple farmers were wiped out by them last
year. I proved for myself that esfenvalerate works but you have to apply it
weekly from June to middle of July. It is also inexpensive compared to Warrior
and Scimitar but not quite as good. I may try Scimitar this year since I don't
have a license.
