Dick made a lasting impression on me when he brought a very good shaped and
very nice orange pumpkin (797) to the Barnesville, OH weigh-off in 1998. We
walked about soil, ground hogs, and pumpkin growing in general as I was a
beginner. He was one of my first encounters of a truly world-class pumpkin
grower. I could tell he was a family man and truly funny as he did joke a lot. I
remember him having a bad cold , he was glad he got the pumpkin there in one
piece. Thanks Dick for your time and talking to a novice that has a lasting
impression on me.
