Title: 2 per family? Having a partner, or significant other, is a plus in the patch. They can water, pollinate cover for you when your gone . Are singles at a disadvantage?
I run a small weigh-off in Boony-ville and am thinking that the 2 per family rule should either be dropped or make it 2 per unit single or family.
We had the typical ruling that a grower had to grow their own pumpkin. But it was obvious that there is a dominate grower that does the majority of the work. And come weigh-off time they would just pick their 2 best shots at winning. Or they would just share the chores and come weigh-off time pick their two best shots. Rarely did I find that each grower did all their own work. Like get a soil test, amend, rototill their own patch etc....they tag team as a family.
So it was evident that the single with a single entry was at a disadvantage when it came to combined family purse.
So I decided to pool the pumpkin people for their thoughts on this subject. Any help??
