I live in Northeast Ohio and I plant about 12 acres of Conneticut Field
pumpkins each year. Last year the weeds gave me a hard time, I spent most of
my free time cultivating. I was thinking about using a weed killer this year
and was wonder what you all think about it. How many weeks before planting
should I apply and what kind of herbicide would you suggest?

Pumpkins are extremely sensitive to Herbicides, some applied within a mile of
them will have an adverse effect. You need to get expert advise as to
application recommendations. I know one of the country’s leading experts on
Herbicides, (Richard Bonanno), who lives not far from me. I’ will see if I
can get in touch with him for some advise. I would not recommend using them.
