George,
Are you willing to share the "experimental Organic
fertilizer I've
been testing" that you mention.
I have been growing AG's 4 years in the same plot (space for
one
plant). Typically about 1000lbs of pumpkin from one plant.
Last year was my best with 507 (and a 410); 1997 - 2 Blow
outs big
one on track for over 500, 1996 best was 410 (1000 total lbs.),
1995 year
one on the plot was a little one 86lbs. Year one I was not very
knowledgeable (maybe a little more now no-where up to most on this
forum)
and the garden was mostly weeds with clay.
I have added lots and lots of yards of organic material and
consistently use a cover crop (green Manure from Nature Valley up
near the
Sierra). My plot is in Silicon Valley in California and I am space
limited.
Any suggestions to improve are appreciated. I am always
looking for
a simple - magic bullet solution to get to the 700 lbs. goal I
have.
(although I know from doing this for years that seed, soil,
persistence,
work, and knowledge along with luck are the factors that effect the
end
result)
Cheers and thanks to all for sharing the wit and wisdom
regarding
growing large orange orbs!

It is not widely available yet, I'm in the process of trying to get
someone to
distribute it in New England. It is only one ingredient in a total
of 5 or 6.
I will share most if not all of the info at the of this growing
season (99).
Need more testing before I'm sure I'm on to something.
George
