Greetings all,
Today we recieved roughly 1 inch of rain and it is not even 8 in the morning
yet. Yesterday we had a high of 36 degrees with rain/ snow and ice pelets.
Hey its beautiful pumpkin growing weather. Anyway, my humor bug isn't working
yet, and I doubt that it will even wake up today knowing I need a snorkle to
breathe outside while I am spreading manure over the patch. I have logged 127
man hours so far in 1999 in the patch, keeping track for curiousity sakes.
Here is the low down, and you might be a redneck Jedi if you ever used the
force to load a giant pumpkin.....
Site Zero... Lookin good. It has a nice layer of manure on it in uniform
depth. All this site needs is a sprinkler and a few last soil ammendments to
come in March as well as a truck load of potting soil.
Site #1... Looking good, needs only Truck of potting soil and final
ammendments.
Site #2... The next site to get its poop dispersed evenly. It also needs a
truck load of potting soil, and final ammendments.
Site #3,4,5... Ditto to site #2.
Site #6... Ready to go except for March soil ammendments.
Site #7... Ditto to #6.
Site #P-1... Manure is spread, still needs potting soil, and late
ammendments.
Site #P-2... Manure is spread, but it still has a nagging stump in it, needs
potting soil, and ammendments.
Overall, the patch is coming along nicely. I am a little behind last year,
but with less spring time work to do I feel no rush. I have been thinking
about installing a sprinkle for the pollinator sites, but will give that some
time to develope in the head. Seed trade is going well, but I am still in
need of a #946.5 Geerts, #975 Zehr, and now a #940 Mombert 98, and a #865
Mettler 98. If anyone can help me out with those seeds email me privately for
arrangements.
Take care all,
Brett The Pumpkinguru Hester
