Re: coal ashes


I put several loads of coal ashes on the vegetable garden and pumpkin 
patch a few years ago, great for loosening up heavy clay soil. Probably 
better to screen them first to remove clinkers and chunks and be sure to
test pH after you apply and dig in. Not sure what nutrients they contain
but most vegetables seem to grow well in ash/soil mixture.
