RE: silver bullet seeds

Thats a good question Mike and one I can't really answer. It bears further
study though. I had seeds germinate in my 508 this past fall and others
that had split their seed coats and were, I assume on their way to
germinating. I will to some test germination with those seeds and others
that were not split and see if I note any difference between them. My gut
tells me that those that germinated just happened to have the right
conditions and perhaps were a bit more aggresive. Maybe the sun shone on
that side of the pumpkin a bit longer and warmed things up inside and that
particular seed was ready to go. As for the Silver Bullet seeds. Maybe
they exist because those particular seeds just happened to have the best
attributes in the genetic mix. Perhaps some crosses provide more of that
for all the seeds produced than others. The 567.5 seems to have come with a
.50 caliber belt full of "Silver Bullets" others may only have a six gun
full and some are mere cap pistols. I quess it's like people some families
produce cookie cutter kids and others manage to have one thats a genius and
another thats slow, another thats beautiful and others that are ugly. I
tend to think that ones that have proven they can produce large offspring
are still the best bet for continuing that trait with their siblings.

Perhaps there are other growers on the list who would be willing to
try this experiment too. Theres not much else to do on these short cold
days and long cold nights. We could all compare notes in the next few
weeks. It would at least go part of the way toward answering this question.

P.S. Thanks for your response to my pvt post earlier this week.
