Brock, I don't have too much to offer here, except that we collected the 
seeds from Tony Ciliberto's 714.6 down here, and a few of them were starting 
to open.  After I dried them, I sent all of them to Tony.  When I talked to 
him later, he said he tried to start some of the open ones to see if they 
were still good.  I believe he said he tried six, and all six germinated and 
were growing just fine.  So if you wanted to play out your hunch, maybe you 
could hold some that are just starting to pop open and grow them next year.  
Maybe if they have started to open, that would be a clue that they are ahead 
of the pack.
