List,
I am putting together a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) list for
the PGPGA site, and would love some input here. I know there are
recurring questions like "Don't you add milk to make your pumpkins big?
" , as just an example. I feel there are tons of questions like "How do
you stop borers?", "What are borers?", "How do I germinate seeds?", "How
much manure is enough manure?", "What kind of leaves are good for
compost and what kind are not good?" , etc...
Maybe a few of the problems with the heavy hitters and the long time
list members not responding to newbies questions is that they hate to
type the same response over and over, so I want to help with a FAQ
section for the page that would help inform new people, make veterans be
able to say "For the answer to your recurring question we have on this
list please go to.. whatever@pgpga.com (not the real address ..) and
read the FAQ's....
The emergence of an online presence of growers organizations such as
the PGPGA, the IPGA, the OSLGA, as well as personal web pages have
brought about plenty of info and pics, that can help with these type of
issues. The AGGC web site helps with the big issues on histories of
seeds, and much more, and to that we are very thankful to them. This
Mallorn list helped create this community of 200 + of the world's
greatest growers, of which the last three world champs have come from,
and to that we are thankful.
In short, I want any one who has a recurring question, something
they want answered, or maybe a place to be referred to when problems
arise with their patches to go to.. Please email me privately with your
newbie questions, your veterans questions, and what not, and I will try
to have it up within a week on the site. The answers to the questions
will have the source it came from, and if there are a few different
responses, I will put them down if I feel it warrants multiple
opinions.. Email me privately with these questions, and remember, no
question to dumb to submit, because if it seems dumb to you , like the
milking a pumpkin one, it isn't dumb to the new AG grower that just
joined up and is readying themselves for the new season.
