Size
hello,
Seeking input on plant size. Last year was
my first year and have conflicting information on how large you should allow
your plant to grow. Books and several growers have told me it should be 40
by 25. I allowed my plant to grow that big last year and produced a 632 on a
secondary vine(not a secondary main but a secondary down the main vine
approx 6 ft). After talking to George Lloyd and visiting his patch in
september he told me I allowed my plant to get to big and the plant growth
was robbing my pumpkin of growth. Upon inspection of his patch and Debbie
Haaegens their plants where 20 by 12. These two growers have produced
pumpkins over 900 pounds and George has done it for four years in a row. I
would like to here from list members and their comments on plant
size.
