     WAYNE,

My mistake, 20by16. He allows his first couple of secondaries get to 12
ft and then allows the rest to grow to 8to 10 ft. I know its seems small but
thats what he suggested. He keeps his plants very healthy right up until
weigh off with hardly any die back. The only thing I know is he has a high
iron content in his water which comes from the well and sets the first
availablefruit on the main and doesn't wait the usual 10 to 15 ft like
everyone recommends. andrew

Andrew are you telling us their plants were only 250 sq. ft.
approx.......pretty small I would say........Gary Burke grew his 1092 with a
500 sq. ft. plant and we were all amazed........wayne

             hello,

Seeking input on plant size. Last year was my first year and
have conflicting information on how large you should allow your plant to
grow. Books and several growers have told me it should be 40 by 25. I
allowed my plant to grow that big last year and produced a 632 on a
secondary vine(not a secondary main but a secondary down the main vine
approx 6 ft). After talking to George Lloyd and visiting his patch in
september he told me I allowed my plant to get to big and the plant growth
was robbing my pumpkin of growth. Upon inspection of his patch and Debbie
Haaegens their plants where 20 by 12. These two growers have produced
pumpkins over 900 pounds and George has done it for four years in a row. I
would like to here from list members and their comments on plant size.

             andrew
