I think you are seeing a winter phenomenon. I'm not sure, but it is my
impression that each winter things get a little off topic. Partly due to
cabin fever and partly due to just too much talk. When peole talk too muc,
some one is bound to say the wrong theing to someone, and ....
It gets back on track when the soil warms up, as I recall.
However, I will say that there have been a couple of chronically irritating
issues/people that keep coming up. The solution to them is generally to
ignore them, and when they don't get any atttention, they fade. At least I
hope so.
