List members;
I of little experience and knowledge ask of thee
for your take on the genetics of stem splits. I had some splitting this
year (none which went all the way through) that caused a lot of grief.
Once I noticed some splitting I quit watering, fertilizing and even cut one of
the plants back about 60% (in the later part of August).
My quest for knowledge (you can email me
privately or post if you want) is to get a general idea of which genetic lines
don't split as often. I've seen plants with huge stems and some with
relatively small stems (mine last year). That's it !
If however the genetics that you're aware of
have other possible associated problems such as blossom end splits or rib
cracking, I'd like to learn that as well.
Thank-you for any input you give
me/us.
