White and Tan

List,

We know that most seeds some in all shapes, sizes, and thickness. And they
are usually white or tan in color. I have recieved white and tan seeds from
first generation offspring of the 935 Lloyd, 801.5 Stelts, and 825.5
shymanski. Why do some end up being white instead of tan??

The 672.5 (pat) Papez and 875.4 Checkon were both grown from the 1009.5
Eaton(945.6 Geerts sibbed). The 672.5 seeds are tan and thick. The 875.4
seeds are white and thin, but the same general size and shape as the 672.5
seeds.

The 1010 Mackenzie has been selfed many times by different growers. All of
the 1010 mackenzie offspring and selfed offspring produced tan seeds that i
know of and heard about. I heard of an instance in the IGPA chat room(Jan.
25th) that a slefed 1010 pumpkin produced white seeds. Anyone have any Idea
why this happend and why seeds sometimes go white instead of tan??? My guess
is that white seeds are a recessive trait, but in the 1009.5 case, it just
seems it should produce just tan or white seeds because it was sibbed.

I think white seeds are easier to germinate than tan seeds, just my opinion.
I like them better than tan seeds.

It would be great if anyone wants to share or comment on this subject.
