the male pollinator will only influence the offspring of the seeds, not
affect the colour.

I think this may be something to do with recessive/dominence inheritence.
Tan seeds seem to be more dominent imho.

Shellie Cramer and I both grew the 991 Hunt
in 2000.  Shellie grew a 729 lb. pumpkin on
her plant.  I grew a 597 on mine.
The seeds from my 597 were large and white.
When I opened up the envelope containing
the 729 Cramer seeds that Shellie sent me,
I was surprised to see medium size TAN seeds.

Shellie pollinated her 991 with the
815 Checkon.  I pollinated my 991 with
the 827 Holland.
Hmmm, I wonder how much of a role the
male pollinator plays in seed color ???
