Chad: I think that if you cut everything (leaves, roots, secondaries,
tendrils) in the vine around the stem (two knuts each size) of your selected
pumpkin, curve the vine almost 90 degree with the pumpkin on the outside and
rise the vine softly to keep the stem parallel to the ground, you will avoid
stem stress.
