Well I am always late but do feel I can contribute. This is not only a
pumpkin growing chat board it is a Community of friends I believe with all my
heart and soul that we are far more then people who put seeds in the ground
to beat the pants off the other guys at the weigh off just to take the cash
that is offered !! if that was the case we would just be investors, We would
buy the most expensive seed and purchase the most expensive fertilizers and
pay professional consultants to manage our pests and diseases just to turn a
profit in October. Kind of makes you think of why would we grow these
pumpkins if it was just for Vine management, Genetics, vigor!!
I would have quit this year if it was not for my friends I am actually a
quite accomplished long range fisherman and have ended up spending a good
portion of my fishing fund every year on Growing Pumpkins NOT BECAUSE THEY
ARE BIG but because of the friends that gave me the seed, encouragement, and
friendship it took to grow them !! forget all your techniques on growing the
BIG ONE !!! My 703* grew in the shade on a 135 square foot plant only watered
at the trunk in a Dead spot in my lawn ON FRIENDSHIP not techniques and vine
positioning BUT FRIENDSHIP !!
Think about that before you want to bash the Community we have formed. If
you want to grow big pumpkins just read Don Langevins books cover to cover 10
times a day and that should fulfill your need to learn if not please lets all
get along and shoot the bull and enjoy being FRIENDS !! Take care ALL and I
hope I have not offended anyone but I am just replying and not staying silent
to show support !!!
