2nd annual pumpkin poetry contest

Congratulations to all! I just wanted to give my own unofficial 'KUDOS'
to whomever wrote the haiku which was submitted early in the contest. I
forget the author, but just wanted to say I appreciated your poetry!

A Haiku for you
to celebrate the good gourd
With weak poetry

Grow, oh my pumpkin
The Spring rain and Summer sun
becomes Falls bounty

Swelled by rain and sun
Mighty pumpkin, child of earth
Grows mighty with care.

Orange armoured gourd
Within your strong walls doth lie,
your children; Held fast.

Be at peace, Fall ends
Comes the frost to bite and rend
the snow to cover

The winter has come
Dead the leaf, witherd the vine
sleep, sleep, spring is near

Out the sun, kill frost
melt snow, warm the mother earth
soon, soon, wakes the gourd

Spring rules the land
flowers rise from winters sleep
Green the vine and leaf

Grow oh my children!
>From my life take life and grow!
In death, still I live

Strong is the Cycle
Birth to death, death to rebirth
a song without end.

Randy Eliason
