I agree with Wayne. I think the 552 and 962 Sherwood are a good bet.
I also like some of Bob Wells' squash crosses. Check out his 579 from '02
and
his 732 from '03. I will likely try one of these Sherwood or Wells seeds in
'04 (or maybe both).
The 771 Stellpflug from '01 is another good one for green.
I have grown the 895.5 Hester twice and got dark green both times. (I will
e-mail you a photo).
I've also tried the 744 Welty '00 twice. It throws a nice light to medium
green and a nice
round shape. Jack LaRue crossed the 744 with the 895.5 in '02......it
produced his 516 (green)
Jack grew his 516 in '03 and got a 386 lb. green one. The 744 usually grows
true squash. I know of
only one pumpkin by this seed.
Wayne Kennedy's 756.8 from '03 also looks very interesting. (895.5 Hester x
990 Hebb).
The 990 doesn't alway throw a greenie ...... it will be interesting to see
what the 756.8 does this year.
