RE: AGGC

Dear Pete and Kathie

Perhaps I can cheer you up as well. Although I am having sunny weather I
have had nothing but FAILURE with my pumpkin. Three female flowers with some
promising fruit at the base all dried up and "faded like a flower" (quite
ironic, my PC is playing that song now....faded like a flower).

There really must be something wrong with the plant or seed, it has only one
main vine (the supplier said it may have been X-rayed, not many from the
batch germinated). Other growers planted new seeds and one grower has three
rather big pumpkins (about 6 inches diameter unless he's a fisherman and its
really 2 inches).

I planted a new one at the beginning of January in a different spot, open
air and no shade cloth this time. Still have about 5 months growth (we
usually still have green grass although it starts getting cool by my
daughter's birthday on 27 May) and it's in a warm spot. I really must get
that book you recommended Kathie.

We never really have snow here (South Africa) and always find it magical,
but it does not sound fun right now for you. Look after yourselves

Alan

Dear Pete,
I'm so GLAD to hear from you. I especially am concerned about my dear
elderly aunt in Maryland, but she does have her grown son living with her. I
hate to say how warm and sunny we are, so I'll mention instead that I get my
stitches out tomorrow.
Stay well and warm!
Kathie
