For the off season

Frank Moore was explaining that the size of California products was due to
the alleged fact that a galvanic current running from the North Pole to
South Pole - hence the compass - in California for the first time ran aross
the land. "Take our pumpkins, for example. These pumpkins grow to such a
size that it is customary to place a small pig inside. As he eats, he grows,
until he attains his full size inside the pumpkin.
"The growth of these pumpkins is necessarily very rapid. On rough ground it
is necessary to place wheels or rollers beneath the pumpkins to prevent
their being worn out. You see, the vines grow so fast that they drag the
pumpkins about."
