Smith patch and Fishing trip
Hi List
Well, it has been as crazy as you can imagine with a 18 month old here at
the Smith house. Well, as it goes for the patch I have a cover crop of annual
rye (worked great last year) growing wonderfully and that is all I have done
to the patch. Reason is Tomorrow Nikki (my wife) and I are going looking for a
House to buy. In Los Angeles area a house with a 50 ft X 100 ft lot is
pretty big. The one I rent is 6000 sqft including the house. We are looking in an
area called Acton, CA the lots are Five Acres and it is only about 20 minutes
farther away from work due to traffic. So this year i PROBABLY won't be able
to grow pumpkins But you NEVER know about me !!
Last Monday I got Hired to be a "Union Pole Lineman Apprentice" so I
start my 4 1/2 Year probation Climbing and working on Electrical powerlines. I
have been working and studying for a couple of years now getting ready and my
family is very proud even though "Pole Lineman" is within the top 6 Deadliest
jobs in the world...
OK Last I wrote I was going on a fishing trip AND WOW DID I ......
I set out on the "Independence" _http://www.independencesportfishing.com/_
(http://www.independencesportfishing.com/)
Fishing boat out of Point Loma, San Diego California. I cannot explain to y
ou as a fisherman How incredible this Ship was. it was Absolutely Everything A
fisherman could need. The crew was great the food beat ANY Restaurant I have
ever been to NO KIDDING. We were targeting Giant Yellowfin Tuna (Allison
Tuna) which they had been catching the last few weeks before the trip on all the
boats that were heading to the fishing grounds we were targeting. you had to
have at least two Rods and reels able to handle 135 LB test and you had to be
ready to pull for your life. i was the lightest rigged angler on the boat
but i knew i had to make up for my lighter tackle by overpowering the fish. on
the two and a half straight days of travel down to the fishing grounds
everyone told me i was under tackled and i was worried. the first evening of
fishing i caught and landed a 196 LB Yellowfin tuna. the next day i landed two one
was 170 lbs and 189. the third day i landed a 216 and a 239 LB tuna for a
total of five fish, 170, 189, 196, 216 and 239. only one angler caught one
fish more then me and most anglers caught two or three but NO ONE did not get a
trophy fish. i made up the difference in my fishing equipment by fishing a
different fighting style then the other anglers and when everyone else took 45
minutes to an hour to bring in the fish i averaged 10 minutes and was
featured in the "Western outdoor News" stating that. Wow what a trip !!! if you
EVER want a trip of a Lifetime contact the Independence and schedule a trip
there is absolutely no other boat in the fleet that can hold a candle to it.
Take care all and God Bless you on your 2006 Season I will be watching
the list trying to keep up with all of you and DREAMING of Big pumpkins !!!
