 George-have you ever tried sanding seeds?I know some do and some don't.With
 that tough seed shell perhaps it helps?
 
 I had only 33% germination last year and wonder if I should try sanding to
 help improve the odds.Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

No I haven’t, I have had such good luck with the direct start method I
haven’t had the need.
