The 98 Central Park Regatta

The 98 Regatta rules! I am looking forward to it already!

I have to say that you guys have got it all wrong! You are putting too much
emphasis on the size of the pumpkin!

As an experienced boater and Florida resident, I can attest that winning any
boat race depends on a number of scientific and mathematical concepts. They
include but are not limited to: beam width, draft, dead rise, hull and keel
design, chine angle, means of propulsion and weight. Additionally, the skill
of the driver as well as his/her weight is also a critical factor.

Doesn't that put an interesting spin on pumpkin growing? Not only are we
challenged to grow record breaking pumpkins, but also to grow ones that might
have enough naval architechtural attributes to win a nationally televised
pumpkin regatta in the most famous city on Earth. Pressure??? Nah..........

As the pumpkins I will grow this year will be long gone before the 98 regatta
in NYC, I hereby offer my services as an official pumpkin boat race consultant
and will gladly assist anyone who needs advice in this arena.

I can see it now, genetically engineered pumpkin seeds, guaranteed to grow the
vessel of your dreams!
