Pat,
I think the compost pile may have a lack of Oxygen. The conversion bugs can
change ammonia but oxygen is needed. NO3 needs oxygen O2 to get there. I think
he needs to just keep turning (aerating) the pile and everything will be
coool so to speak, by planting time.
