Re: Diversity in Plant selection

I really, really like the idea of a checklist, Dan. That would help us
see a lot of relevant information in a concise format.

Sometimes you have to argue against numbers... how do you quantify
these things? Even the concept of personal best is shaky. If you are
trying to factor in the level of experience of the grower of a specific
pumpkin, you need to quantify how much that person has learned each year
and adjust the pumpkin weight against that. Hey, what about personal
stuff? Any personal crises to distract from the pumpkin endeavor?
Then where do you start with weather? Every weather event in each year
would have to be completely measured, quantified, and the pumpkin weight
again adjusted accordingly. Thinking about this stuff, the genetics
starts to look easy, no?

I'm an information addict, but this has so many variables and so much
chaos... but then again lots of you are lots smarter than I, so please
proceed! I will have fun watching and thinking about your results!
Then we can compare your predictions with those from my crystal ball.
