my soil consists of leaves,grass, and manure. then i till the soil to mix it
up and i turn it over with my bobcat. i also add lots of lime to break down
the compost
thats what i do i don't know if it's right but i had a 250 lb. pumpkin for
my
first year.

It sounds like your off to a good start,but I wouldn't add limestone every
year...it will drive your pH too high. Get a soil test in the spring and keep
the pH @ 6.5 or 7.
