Growing - growing.......

T'is the weekend again. There is an autumnal air about the land this
morning though it is still high summer and the salad days are still with
us. There has been heavy rain this week soaking the ground and the
weather has stayed warm and overcast. 'Old Yeller' has now overtaken the
green vined pumpkin and is gaining around 3 - 5 inches every 24 hours.
Green is only gaining 1 - 2 inches. Old Yeller is real peanut shaped and
is possibly the ugliest pumpkin I have seen. This is the one growing off
the ribbon shaped vine. Liquid feed high in pottasium continues to be
sprayed every second day though I may reduce this.
The amazing thing is the rate that the vegetative growth is stampeding
across the vege patch. It is gaining about 2 - 3 feet a day. The
silverbeet has succumbed., the tomatoes will soon be covered and the
corn and scarlet runners have about a week to evacuate. I will cut off
the leaves as the runners go through the tomatoes or a valuable crop
will be lost.I think it might be time to stop the terminal growth and
let the goodies go elsewhere. What say you my pumkin growing
buddies?????
