Ethan,
My opinion is that manure doesn't cause phytopthora. Ron Wallace is
surrounded by commercial pumpkin fields with high water tables that are know
phtopthora infested fields. Fields with poor drainage and high water levels
are more prone to this as I recall. You have found a difference in your
pumpkin cultural practices ( manure vs. no manure) , but I think there are
other forces at play here, causing Rons problem.
