I guess the pumpkins always greener on the other side of the fence. When I was
17 I wouldn't think twice about starting a break job outside at 11:00 pm when
I needed the car the next morning..................and if I was retired I
could spend all day tending to all the plants I wanted to grow. But,I'm 38.Got
the wife,two kids(6and4),mortgage,5-6 daysX11hrs aday job,and all I want to
do
is grow maximas Blues.Age doesn't mean diddly.....time effort skill luck
location location location.................thats whats important(just my
veteran opinion(2nd year expert!)

Ll,
You are right on. Retired people have a decided advantage in the sport of
Giant Pumpkin growing. In most sports, when you get a little snow on the roof,
you've lost a half step running down the base line. Not so with pumpkin
growing. Retired people are the truly dangerous growers. I expect to be
entering my pumpkin growing prime in another 10 or 15 years. Can't wait.
