so nice to have you back with us!! neat idea on how to pick your plants. I'll give you my 2 cents worth. .
#1 1997 Anderson 815# Why? it's obvious. 12" walls the parent of your personnel best. Alittle less fert. and water and about 3 more weeks to grow!! Who knows where it might have finished!!
#2 1994 Ciliberto 697# Why? An unbelievable track record!! best from this seed 1006# You can do better!! GO FOR IT !!!!!
#3 1998 Handy 936# Why? How can't you give this mans seeds a try. Consistantly 100 plus pounds over the chart weights. They nicknamed him "THE ROCK" Tried to get some of the stelphlug 730# seed but to no avail. That was the one i wanted to try!!
Still 2 old proven winners and one new one to try this year. those are my choices!!!
#4 1995 Carlson 431# Why? could not stand the idea
of not getting a vote!!! Really, Nobody but I have grown this seed. In
iowa, the climate kinda sucks. constantly spraying and the heat and humidity
is bad!! Parentage is 1993 639# kurt herrmann
seed crossed with a 923# 1994 glen Brown. 1997 I did grow this seed
but had drought and hail totally destroy the plant. I ended up with 35
leaves and 1 pumpkin on a very small side vine . It finished at 499.5#
about and even 90# over the chart weight. I really don't want the pressure
of someone relying on my seed. It's kinda scary.
all that time and effort and then a bust. I'm planting it again cause
it's been my best the last 3 years. I know it can do better than what I've
done with it!! Remember I only get about 5 hours of sunlight on the plant
before the neighbors trees start shading the patch. Hester says he
might try it in one of his plots!!
Good luck with the gourd seeds. hope you get them to sprout. If
they do you should do alright. The winner at Anamosa beat us with our own
seeds. Grew a nice one about 84" Pretty, green and thin
do you have an idea on a trelis?
The carlsons Dan and Beth
thanks for the kind words.
P.S. We are taking ove rthe Anamosa Newsletters to help out the Norlins.
They are coming to the house on feb.6 th to give us the scoop.
We are a little nervous!!!

I am going through my seed library, and was wondering if people
wanted to dole out some advise for me. I have an extenxive list, and was
wondering which seeds the people on the list would pick for this year..
I have room for two comfortable , and three cramped plants, so pick me
three or four seeds and put the priority of your choices , and why..
Acquiring the seeds can be fun... but choosing the correct one is
real tough.. I dont want to influence anyones decisions.. so I am
leaving it up to each of you to decide for me.
List them, and tell me why you chose it. Here is my seed library ,
PLEASE RESPOND TO ME PRIVATELY! I DO NOT WANT TO CLUTTER THIS LIST.. I
WILL REPORT THE TOP 5 CHOICES AFTER TWO WEEKS TIME. Ahh what the heck, I
will run this as a contest, and will draw three winners out of a hat,
and send them three seeds from my list(my choice) as a prize for
responding. Dont forget to send me your snailmail address so I can pop
the winners in as soon as possible.. If your response is listed on the
pumpkinlist, you are ineligible for the prize.. Sorry.. :-(Here is the address for my seed library...

Good luck, and happy hunting..
