Hi Judy...Try this method...even now to make sure it will work for you
when you are ready to plant.
Roll up some heavy kraft paper towel and place in a clear plastic or
glass jar..ie. peanut butter jar.
Then place several seeds, pointy side down between the paper towel and
the side of the jar, and fill the jar up with about 2 inches of water.
The seeds must be above the water level. Then place the jar in a warm
spot such as on top of your water heater or on top of a refrigerator.
The seeds should sprout in 2 to 3 days and could then be carefully
transplanted into a peat pot, using sterilized tweezers, taking care not
to damage the tiny root sprout. Put the peat pot back in the warm spot
and wait until the sprout pushes the seed casing up through the dirt
before you put it in the light.
I use this method to check out the percentage of germination on all of
my seeds.....Good Luck....Jim Ives in Picton, Ontario
