Recently there has been some interest from the group about crossing distant
lines for certain purposes. The "Atlantic Giant" was crossed with some New
Jersey strains to take us to where we are today. I could go on and on about
this and perhaps someday I will in paperback or hard cover.
For those who would like to experiment with, what I feel to be a true
"Atlantic Giant", I can offer some of the 1983 seeds I have that are in great
condition. I hope they will germinate OK. As, some of you know that year my
brothers grew the largest pumpkin ever grown in the USA weighing a mere 465.0
lb. and our joint plot had these specimens:
465 lb. (total of 5 seeds to offer) @$20 ea. US Record 1983
423 lb. ( " " 25 " " " ) @$10 ea. Nice shape & color
375 lb. ( " " 15 " " " ) @$ 7 ea. " " " " " "
350 lb. ( " " 15 " " " ) @$ 6 ea. " " " " " "
350 lb. ( " " 15 " " " ) @$ 6 ea. very nice shape & color
- huge stem
These seeds are in good condition - however there will be NO guarantee for
germination. You might just want to frame some of them! Good Luck.
