Borers

Borers are alive and well on Long Island this year...just killed two and
picked a few dozen eggs off my nieghbors zuchinni plants...a dozen off the
other nieghbors AG and three off my AG. It seems like the moths prefer to
leave eggs on plants not sprayed as my squash footage of AG is 20 x the
combined area of the zucchini and other ags in the entire nieghbor hood.
Note to self #1......these yellow vines that these "orange"ones have are
easier to inspect than the green ones...eggs show up better.
Note to self #2.......nieghbor's zucchini makes a great trap crop for
borers...make sure to buy extra seedlings next spring and give them away....
Note to self #3.....DONT put any more coffe grinds in compost pile or
patch...everytime it rains it looks like a bizzilion borer eggs as grains
splash up on stems and get stuck in
bristles........................................G
