Maple Valley Update

Hi all,
Was out pollinating again this morning and there was a
7 lobed female on the main vine of my Heaster 471.
This is the 14th female pollinated on this plant.
(How come the 1st female on the main vine isn't ever 7
lober ?) The pumpkin wasn't any bigger than any of the
other ones on the plant. The lobes were smaller and
more compact than a typical 4 lober that this plant
has been putting out. ie the size of the 7 lobes was
the same size a typical 4 lobes. An interesting note
also is that today I pollinated 3 females on this
plant, the others had 5 and 6 lobes.

I didn't take a picture of them since i was late for
work anyway. Maybe I'll open up the 7 lober tomorrow
and take one, if anyone is interested. It would be a
while since I take regular pictures, have them
developed and then scan them.

The other plants in my patch are a 865 Mettler and a
523 Hester. The 865 which isn't doing well. It's my
own fault. I was trying to push it and over fertilized
it. The 523 had a main vine snap which set it back.
But is agressive and is recovering nicely. It has 4
fruit set on it. So far they are green... but they
are still small. So there is hope for them yet !
(sorry Glen and Rocky.)

The plants about 2-3 weeks behind of where i would
like them to be. but I'm hoping that come October
I'll be fine.
