Sounds to me like water is getting into the female blooms some how, causing
the young fruit to spoil before the flower opens.
Are you overhead watering? If so, try watering at the soil level, being
careful not to allow water to stand on your patch.
You can protect the female blooms from water by covering them with an
inverted box covered with foil during torrential rains or overhead watering.
