This is an old wives tale. Do not try to force feed your pumpkin milk.
It's true that pumpkins need calcium, but they get it through the soil.
Milk also has fat which is not good for plants, plus it's likely to attract
various sorts of undesirable vermin, and/or sour and other foul things.
Also, you should work diligently to keep your vines intact. No unnecessary
wounds, no stress is the ideal. The ONLY acceptable reason for cutting a
slit in a vine is as a last resort to remove larva of the dreaded squash
vine borer. Although it's best to keep them from getting in there in the
first place.
