Moisture Barrier
<Hi John
In reading your message I noticed you use a moisture barrier. What do you
typically use for this purpose?
Thanks

I have been using sand for the last two years, and that worked well, but
required shoveling inbetween those brittle leaves, and thus breaking some
things somtimes. So this year I got some surplus bubble wrap and cut it into
3x3 ft. sections, the maximum area the bottom of the pumpkin will likely
cover. Since I do not water overhead, the plastic will not hold water against
the fruit. I rolled the extra plastic up and plan to unroll it as the fruit
grows. I culled a rather large pumpkin that had been growing on the bubble
wrap this morning. The bottom was very smooth and solid. In October, or
sooner, I will know if there are any downsides to this method.
