That's it. I'm ready to give up. Despite all the advantages this year
held for me (excellent seeds, a bigger patch, lots of rain, sunny
afternoons and cool mornings) I have had nothing but bad luck...
-only 2 of the 20 seeds I started germinated
-had very slow initial growth, very slow to vine
-very late female flowers
-lots of cuc beetles and squash bugs
-poor pollination rate
and now, AND NOW, I have small brown spots on the leaves -- after a few
days, the brown spots turn white and dry out as if holes are being burnt
through the leaves. I noticed it on my pollinating plant and then,
while I was wondering what to do about for a day or so, it began showing
up on my main plant. I'm ready to pull up the pollinator today and
wonder if I should pull out my main plant too... just call it quits for
the season. Maybe it's not too late to plant some peas or radishes or
something....
