First Time Grower...

Hello, I just joined the list last week and have found it very interesting! This
is the first year that I have grown giant pumpkins and I can all ready see that
they are very overcrowded! I planted them in hills - 4 hills of 3-4 plants each,
next to a few watermelon plants in an are about 25' x 25'... I'm sure you see the
problem! I had no idea how large they would get! I'm not sure what I should do
now... eliminate some of the plants, trim them way back or just let them overrun
each other. I am trying to keep them from overtaking my melons! Any suggestions?
I would be happy with a just a few "big ones" for Halloween - not out for anything
huge. Thanks. Jetta in Virginia
