Hi Bob,
I hooked up the drip system on my three raised beds to my hot
water heater and am watering twice a day for 5 minutes each time at 85
degrees. I also covered the beds with black plastic. The black
plastic keeps the beds at 85 degrees or better all night long and keeps my
combination of compost and manure moist but not too wet. The growth on
both my 3 AG's plants and my 5 Prizewinner plants are ahead of last year and I
seem to be getting a whole lot more female flowers than ever before. It is
still too soon to tell if it will have any effect on pumpkin
growth.
I am growing a total of 8 plants this year on my mountain
slope and am having trouble building the platforms underneath the pumpkins fast
enough to keep them from rolling down the hill.
Hope your back is recovering quickly from the
surgery.
