Just One Per Plant
All...........
I've had an interesting outcome this year. All but one of my 20 or so
plants (AGs, Big Macs, Prizewinners) are growing just one fruit. There
have been plenty of females on each plant, and either the bees or I have
nailed them all. However in every case, its been the plant, not me, who
decides which one will grow. And once that decision is made, all other
existing fruit (sometimes as large as a basketball) is aborted and all
subsequent females fail to set. The surviving pumpkin on each plant does
quite well, so there's at least that. I just though I'd have more choice
in the matter. How dare these plants cheat me out of the agony of culling
from three to two to one. Anybody had similar experience. The only thing
I can think of is my fert balance and/or quantity is wrong?
