Where's the beef???

Well here we are!! Planning, reading, thinking, looking for seeds,
researching, and then waiting and watching. I had a late start since it is
my first year and the site prep had to be done this spring. Then the rain
hit and our garden was under water for two weeks. Finally the day came that
the little ones I had been nurturing were able to go out and it is a good
thing too because I think they were tired of being indoors and planning an
escape of their own ( they are a bunch of rebels!). They took root in the
bed that I prepared and spread their huge leaves to the sun. Today when I
went to measure and count leaves I was amazed to find them covered with
dirt, kicked over, two of them had stem splits and there was freshly broken
leaves scattered here and there. Fresh cow manure near and far and the
fence was torn down. WE DON'T HAVE COWS!! I know that we can trap and
poison, even shoot gophers, moles, even raccoons. If my 7mm had been handy
I can't imagine what I would have done. ha ha NOT. My 771 Rockwell and the
715 goodpasture made it ok and the 656 Bhaskaran should bounce back. Good
thing I had seven plants to start with!! It all happened about 30 min ago
and I had to vent. Guess I should count my blessings, It could have been
gophers. I can't eat gophers. lol

Deb
personal best- 20 leaves, 5 blossom buds and a whole lot of beef! :)
