I am sure having fun this year with the plants, everything that has gone
wrong just makes the pumpkin I get at the end of the year mean more to me. My
wife has pollinated four pumpkins on my 791 Glasier she crossed it with 1.
723 Bobier 2. 549
Troy (stems like elephant trunks) 3. 801 Stelts 4. 723 Bobier. So don't feel
I can go wrong with any of these crosses. Yesterday I went out to the patch
and noticed the flower in the first pollinated pumpkin was dried on the
lobes, Normal for now but something told me to pull it off and inspect the
lobes. I did and half a lobe fell off something was wrong. I got really close
to the lobes and noticed incredibly small white worms / maggots I am saying
REALLY SMALL... The pumpkin as of today is only double the size it was when
pollinated last Tuesday but still shinny and pretty. I will work on putting a
shingle under it today and take a better look at it then. The other three are
being treated exactly the same way so there fate may be the same !!
Any suggestions, I am curious how long it takes for pollination to finish !!
I may treat the wound with Tempo but I don't want to have to open the flower
and mess up the pollination process. Any help would be great !!!
Thank you in advance !!
