Re: 2nd request on twisting


The closest thing I've seen to what you are describing
was caused by the wind.  The wind would knock the
vines on their sides and the leaves would respond by
curving their stems to show their faces to the sun. 
The wind would knock them down again and they would do
it again.  Pretty soon they looked like corkscrews.

If this is the problem, the cure is pin your vines
down.  Bury everything except the last two feet and
then use some thing to support the end of the vine so
the wind can't mess with it.  I use bamboo stakes.  I
place a stakes on both sides near the end of the vine
and cross them so that the vine is pinned in place and
the tip is held upright.
