Pumpkin growing at joint problem

The pumpkin is growing at the joint of a secondary and
the main vine. Do I leave it a 45 degree angle to the
main and the secondary? Or do I cut the secondary off
and somehow patch it without burying it? I obviously
can't bury that spot because the vine needs to raise
for the pumpkin.

Thanks for any advice. Right now I am just hoping the
stem grows long enough. It's about 6 inches right
now.
The pumpkin is 48 ott at about 10 days old. (I think
it's that old. Might be younger)
