I wonder if anybody can advise me on what I can do to help pumpkin stem
heal. The infection started on the stem near the vine. I think it was
caused by a vine borer who got into the vine right where stem starts. I
injected the vine with BT solution and I believe it killed the vine borer.
However the infection which affects the top of the stem near the vine is
progressing. I don't think it has gone deep into the stem so far. I sprayed
the infected area with insecticide and I applied rubbing alcohol several
times. I see some sap coming out of the wound. It might harden if I will
leave the plant alone. Should I continue with alcohol treatment or not? We
also have high humidity which doesn't help. I am thinking about trying to
help it dry by blowing some air into the infected area. I can use my hair
blower (I will not come too close to risk burning the plant.) Is this a
reasonable idea?

I am babysitting the plant for my son who left for out of town camp. This is
the only pumpkin he has this year. The pumpkin was growing well so far. It
was pollinated on July 2 and it is over 100 pounds according to the
circumference.

Thank you in advance for all advice you can provide.
